Joel Portwood — Business Representative

Joel is a third generation sheet metal worker. He began his career in the sheet metal trade as an apprentice at Sheet Metal Local 85 JATC in 1979. Upon graduation, he worked for several different signatory contractors while working in the field. In 1999, Joel was elected to serve the membership on local 85's e-board. In 2001, Joel was hired as Assistant Business Manager with the Atlanta North Georgia Building Trades and elected to serve the membership as Vice-President.

In February 2005, Joel was appointed organizer, and then elected as Business Representative in June 2005.

Joel has served on the following committees during his membership with the
local union.
