Mike Spivey — Business Representative

Mike started with the Sheet Metal Workers Local Union 85 as an apprentice in 1972. Mike worked most of his apprenticeship years with BHW Sheet Metal in Jonesboro. In 1977 Mike went to work with McKenneys Mechanical at the Richard B. Russell federal building in Atlanta. Mike served as a Foreman and General Foreman over the next 20 years at McKenneys completing the following jobs in Atlanta:

• Ga. Pacific (50 story tenant)
• Nations Bank (60 stories, tallest building in Atlanta)
• Atlanta Airport Concourse E (110 Sheet Metal Workers worked on the job)
• Lennox Mall Overbuild
• Cagles Chicken Facility (rebuilt entire facility in 3 months)

In 1996 Mike was appointed Organizer. Mike was elected as Business representative in 1997 and is currently serving his fourth term. Mike has served the Local and union movement in the following areas:

• Delegate to the General Convention
• Delegate to the North Georgia Building Trades
• Delegate to the Savannah Building Trades
  
• Delegate to the Augusta Building Trades
• Negotiations Committee Member
• Chairman of the Negotiation Committee for Mestek
• Chairman of the Retirees Club
• Trustee of the Building Fund
• Corner Captain of D.A.D.S. day
