Randy Beall's Quarterly Business Report — 1st Qtr, 2009

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Work in our jurisdiction remains strong but we must be mindful of the possibility that work might slow down during this recession. So I encourage all of you to prepare financially for the future in the event our industry slows down.

Atlanta (metro)
We have several jobs ongoing in the Atlanta area, most of our shops are working at nearly full capacity, some have been experiencing periods of overtime. Our contractors continue to bid and secure work for our future man power needs.

West Point and LaGrange
The Kia Plant is well underway at this time. We have several contractors working on the Paint Building; TKS, Poynter, Kirk & Blum, Action, MRS, and Young Group. These contractors have been working well with our office to see that their man power needs are met. Our members have done an excellent job performing the tasks they have been assigned.

We have been heavily recruiting Welders and as the need arises we will continue to do so. We would like to thank all of our members for assisting us in our Organizing efforts.

Ft. Benning
Our members in the Metal Trades Council are doing well. We have won a couple of grievances in the last couple of months and we are currently in a battle involving mis-classifications.

Macon
Work in this area remains a little slow, however just north of Macon, a large Industrial Park is currently under construction. We will monitor this project and encourage our contractors to bid some of this work.

Health and Welfare
We have seen a tremendous growth in our H & W plan in the past 1 ½ years. This has enabled us to make several benefits improvements to our plan. As Trustees we constantly look for ways to improve benefits for our members. We hope these improved benefits will help you and your family in your time of need.

Pension
As we all aware the stock market has been taking a nose dive over the past several months. Hopefully it has bottomed out and will stabilize. It is imperative that we help our Brothers and Sisters in the UAW by reaching out to our elected officials reinforcing the need to keep our American Car Manufacturers in business. Their failure would further hinder our recovery out of this recession.

Work Safe,
Randy
