Ronald Whatley's Monthly Business Report — June, 2008

Workload Increasing... Have a Great 4th of July!

I would like to report to our membership that the workload is increasing.  There are several large projects on the horizon that are gearing up that will place a greater demand for more skilled manpower.  Our members will benefit from the improved opportunities for employment.  The skills our members possess are valuable to their families and to the contractors.  People who have the adequate skills will have a great opportunity to join this great union and start building the benefits that our organization has to offer them and their families.  There will be many job opportunities in the Athens, Augusta, Columbus-Fort Benning, West Point, and the Greater Atlanta area.  Anyone who knows of qualified journeyman sheet metal workers around the state or in these specific areas should refer them to our Marketing Representative or a Business Representative at (404) 758-2689.  Anyone who has been performing sheet metal work for a short time or has no experience and would like to learn the necessary skills to become a journeyman should contact the Georgia Sheet Metal Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee (JATC) office at (404) 753-6466.

We have experienced increased benefits in our Health and Welfare.  Please review the recent Health and Welfare newsletters and take advantage of the new benefits that have been added.

I hope everyone will take advantage of a relaxing three day weekend of July 4th.  This is a great time to enjoy family and friends and be thankful we can have the benefit of living in a free country.  Please take time to show your gratitude to the men and women who have served in or are presently in the military.  They deserve to be thanked for their willingness to fight to protect the freedoms we have enjoyed for over 200 years.

Refer to the “Membership Fun Photos” link at the bottom of our home page to view photos of our members.

Fraternally yours,

Ronald H. Whatley
Business Manager /
Financial Secretary-Treasurer
